Four Tips for Getting Comfortable At Home When You’re Pregnant

Being pregnant is a mixed experience for many women; you’re looking forward to welcoming home a new baby, but you’re also getting tired of the aches and pains! It can be fairly uncomfortable in the last couple of months of pregnancy, but luckily there are a few ways to try and alleviate some of this discomfort. Here are few of my tips and tricks to try if you are at your wits end:

Buy a V-shaped pillow

My mum was the one who introduced me to the idea of using a V shaped pillow as she relied on one when she was pregnant with me all those years ago. I found mine online so you might be able to get one from there if you’re interested. What makes these so good for pregnant ladies is that they’re very supportive, and they can be used in quite a few ways. It’s also worth holding on to it when you start nursing as it can make you more relaxed when you’re doing it in bed.

Have a bath

Water can be quite relaxing when you’re pregnant, so take a bath – just don’t go overboard with the temperature. I always found that a lukewarm bath was more ideal as I didn’t overheat and simply had a refreshing dip. If you are looking to distract yourself for a while, you could always bring in a good book and a few candles. When you do fancy a bath, make sure you get someone to run one for you as you deserve to be taken care of when you’re carrying a baby! Give them your specifications about temperature and the amount of water you need.

Steal the best chair

In my house we all argue over the best seat, but being pregnant always gave me first dibs. I found that a reclining armchair worked quite well as it gave me enough space to fidget until I got comfortable. For a while I was actually falling asleep more easily on the chair than I was in bed, which is why that V shaped pillow made all the difference. I found it easier to be propped up a bit as everything just felt really heavy when I lay on my back (and I sort of worried I’d be stuck there forever).

Consider your clothing

Finding the right maternity clothing can be a struggle, although I do think there is probably more selection now than there was in my mum’s day. It’s hard to come up with the right balance between comfort and style; even at home I didn’t want to look like a slob. I managed to find a great pair of stretchy black trousers from one of the high street shops; luckily they were a lovely material and had a thin leg so they didn’t look anything like a pair of tracky bottoms! Wrap around tops are the perfect accompaniment for the look and the feel. In addition to this, one you can also consider contacting embroidery digitizing company to get the trendy designs digitzed on your clothes to make them look more stylish.
